We participated in the conference “Designing Sustainable Products…”

On October 14 of this year, a conference titled "Designing Products for a Circular Economy as a Key to Export Success for SMEs" was held in Krakow, organized by the South Poland CLEANTECH cluster and the Municipality of Krakow, in cooperation with our Centre.

During the conference, Prof. Krzysztof Pielichowski gave a lecture entitled 'Knowledge and Competence Transfer in the Field of the Circular Economy (CE): An Opportunity for SME Development', in which he talked about the work of the Circular Economy Competence Centre (ICCE). He also mentioned that the Centre could act as a platform that connects academic knowledge, technological expertise, education and the requirements of businesses.

Conference participants raised various issues, including the availability of life cycle assessments (LCAs), digital product passports and the methodology for implementing circular economy solutions. The current requirements for products intended for the EU market focus on their circularity, repairability, recyclability and the long-term availability of spare parts. In this context, cooperation between our Centre and the CLEANTECH cluster (https://spcleantech.pl/ ) in the development of sustainable product technologies serves as a promising indicator for knowledge exchange and the pooling of competencies within the broad context of the circular economy.
